Color Combinations
A combination of three colors provides a base color, a trim color and an accent color. These combos can be appropriate for an interior room or an exterior house and trim color scheme. Two colors are supporting colors for the accent color which adds interest and emphasis to a particular element. This element might be the front entrance door on exterior projects or one wall of an interior space. The use of the accent color will draw the viewer's attention away from less attractive elements. Those elements drop into the background of the supporting colors. To play down a garage door, paint it with the supporting color, while the front door and/or shutters are painted with the attention grabbing accent color. The accent color is sometimes purposely chosen to provide a backdrop for sculpture, paintings or personal collections.
The following color combinations are only a fraction of the millions possible. Many include the color name, number and brand of paint. These samples can vary in hue, tone and saturation from an actual paint coating because every mechanical process, whether it is dye, print or a computer monitor, will render color differently. It is our recommendation to buy a small amount of a color to paint sample cards before making your final selection.
These color combinations are here for a source of ideas and inspiration. Lighten, darken, brighten and mute until you have your own perfect color combination. And remember ... Live with what you love!
